A neuropsychological evaluation is one of most comprehensive assessment methods. It provides an in-depth and personalized assessment of cognitive, social-emotional, and academic functioning, and also integrates examination of fundamental neurocognitive processes, including attention, learning, memory, executive functioning, language abilities, and visual-motor functions that underlie these more general abilities.
A neuropsychological evaluation can provide valuable information about an individual’s cognitive and behavioral style, identify learning strengths and weaknesses, yield diagnostic information, and lead to beneficial recommendations for educational and treatment planning. This way, proper and supportive intervention programs can be developed to help achieve the client's full potential.
In addition to the testing sessions, the assessment includes a detailed intake evaluation, comprehensive written report, and feedback session that will provide you with practical and personalized recommendations.
The neuropsychological evaluation process typically includes an intake interview with parents/guardians, two testing sessions, and a feedback session. In addition, interviews are often conducted with relevant teachers, tutors, and learning specialists.
During the intake interview, Dr. Dube will discuss your concerns and gather relevant background information to help curate a battery of tests that address specific questions or concerns. Dr. Dube may also review prior records and communicate with other professionals involved in your child’s care.
Neuropsychological testing is completed by Dr. Dube in approximately two sessions that last four to five hours each session. A feedback meeting is typically scheduled within four to six weeks of completion of all testing procedures. During this feedback meeting, Dr. Dube will review the results of the evaluation with parents/guardians, discuss recommendations, and answer any questions you may have.
Families will receive a comprehensive and clearly written report summarizing the testing findings and recommendations. Additional services, including but not limited to consultation with schools or attendance at school meetings, may be available upon request. Dr. Dube will also be available for long-term follow-up consultations, sessions, or testing.
